Senior Accountant – Financial Reporting

Compiles monthly and annual consolidated university financial statements, in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) for governmental entities. Prepares monthly reconciliation and analysis on various financial accounts to support financial reporting business processes. Works with management to ensure financial information is reasonable, accurate and aligned with the university's financial reporting needs.  Develops and delivers accurate and insightful analysis around financial information for presentations to senior leadership and the Board of Trustees. Prepares work papers and analysis that support the annual financial audit process. Prepares and submits journal entries and deposits in the Workday system. Responds to financial inquiries by gathering, analyzing, summarizing, and interpreting data. Serves as subject matter expert for the Financial Training and Documentation team. Provides functional support to end users of the Workday system. Maintains job knowledge by keeping current with university policies and accounting standards and practices.

Required: Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience; active Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license; at least six (6) years of experience in accounting and financial reporting; financial experience working with large organizations and/or an audit firms that includes an Enterprise Resource Planning system; financial skills including analyzing information, reporting results, and statistical analysis; working knowledge of GAAP, GASB and/or FASB; experience working with Microsoft Excel and Access, Oracle and other ERP systems; ability to adapt to new business technologies and processes; experience working in a team environment; written and verbal communication skills; deadline and detail oriented; proven experience working with external auditors; knowledge of control structure over financial reporting.

Desired: Experience with Workday or other financial and ERP applications; hands-on experience or involvement in processes or systems to improve the ‘last mile of finance’ is a plus.
